1947 Football Team
The 1947 season was able to achieve a great feat: a second undefeated season in as many years. This team was not the same team as the previous undefeated group, as it returned only one starter, Frank Sparrow. Sparrow's great leadership made him an obvious choice for captain. The team overcame a very difficult schedule, beating the likes of Woodmere, Riverdale, Trinity, Morristown, Irving, and Pingry. The success of this team can be attributed to Coach Luke Ward's conditioning techniques. Although every team but one outweighed the squad, they were still able to "dig" when the opponents were worn down.
